Often, I will use this time for prayer, and I did start off talking to God and praying for various others. Not too far into my walk, I couldn't help the interruption of mine and God's conversation though, and it was loud. Birds! Now, I'm not really a bird person, and honestly, I really hadn't taken notice of too many here on the shore outside the pesky seagulls. A side note: back in Ky. we used to throw our old bread out for the birds. I wish you would have seen this hillbilly girl throwing her bread out in the backyard the first week we lived here only to have a flock of seagulls engulf my entire yard. It looked like a scene from the Hitchcock movie, as I ran inside screaming for cover. Lesson learned. Have I said how much I hate seagulls?
So, anyway, I don't know that many types of birds outside your normal robins, blue jays, sparrows, and so on. Unlike my inlaws, I don't own binoculars to observe them, and I certainly don't know the sounds they make. However, I couldn't help but notice on my walk this morning (because they were SO loud!), how many different chirps I was hearing. There's really no words to describe it or paint the picture of all I was hearing. All I can say is that there had to be at least 15 different types of "bird languages" going on, and that was only in about a quarter of a mile. It made me silent as I just listened and continued to walk. About that time, I noticed some squirrels playing "tag" in someone's yard, passed another one digging a hole to store some acorns, walked over the bridge bythe marina and saw boats coming and going. People were leaving their homes for work, some were just waking to get a newspaper, while others were sitting inside their homes watching the morning news. As I strolled through our quaint downtown, various people were opening shops and businesses, and I passed a few other morning walkers along the way. I couldn't help but think that this is another day of life. The sun rose, the birds chirped, the squirrels played, and people were living their everyday lives, doing what they do, as monotonous as it may seem to all of us. So, what's the big deal? The deal is I had NOTHING to do with it. God, the Sustainer, kept it all going. He didn't sleep last night like I did. I didn't have to stay up through the night to spin the earth on its axis. It wasn't up to me to do anything. He was sustaining everything I saw throughout the night. The rest of us were just waking up to see it all.

I thought about things that have been pressing on my mind, things I've been praying about, and more importantly, people I've been praying for. If the God of the Universe could create all of this and keep it going, could He not tend to the things I brought before Him? I mean, last I checked, I haven't been able to speak ANYthing into existence. I can barely sew a button on a shirt , better yet use my hands to create a human being and breathe life into one! What a comfort this reminder brought to my heart today! The One Who created all of this, sustains it according to His perfect will, and He cares about the details in my life and yours. What a peace to bring it to One you know can handle it and has a plan greater than what we can see in our very finite minds. The One Who created also sustains, and His supply will never perish. Take your cares to Him, the God Who upholds it all. Look around you today and see He really does have the whole world in His hands.
"And my God will liberally supply (fill to the full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:19 (Amp.)
