Michael Jackson rented his current home for a reportedly $100,000.000 a month. His body awoke in that luxurious home this morning, but tonight that body lies on a cold slab in a municipal building that houses every other dead body in Los Angeles taken to the coroner. I can’t help but think of the drastic change that has taken place here. And not just Michael Jackson, but with the very recent deaths of Ed McMahon and Farrah Fawcett, the reality of death is all around. I'm so sad. I’m sad, not just because they died, but sad that none of these "icons" ever professed to know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. I'm not saying they couldn't have had some deathbed confession, but their fame and fortune certainly got them nowhere in heaven or near God. All we are left to remember are who they were, not the hope of where they are now. Listening to people eulogize them breaks my heart. Cher just now was talking to Larry King and said, "I'm sending positive energy to them and know their spirits will be lighter because of this." Uhhhhh whatever! It's sad that Hollywood is such a large realm of satan's playground. Ed McMahon had such a successful career, and died poor in so many ways. His health had failed due to some injuries, and he nearly lost his home to bankruptcy had Donald Trump not come to his rescue this past year. A man who was a sidekick to one of the best talk show hosts to ever live, who went on to enjoy fame and fortune for himself in TV, and have so much financial success died a poor man because he couldn’t manage his money or be content with how much he had. Farrah died of anal cancer which was sadly reported to be caused by STDs,. Her live-in, Ryan O’Neal finally wanted to marry her after 25 yrs of being together, but it was too late. He didn't think much of marriage or feel it was important until she was on her deathbed? Wonder how that made her feel? And now, I am watching clips of little Michael singing those sweet songs as a little boy, and wondering, "What in the world happened to that boy as a child that made him turn out to this?" I have such fun memories of his songs in the 80's, too. All that success led to one very sad and disturbed man. It breaks my heart.
I keep thinking of the scripture in Ecclesiastes, "Everything is meaningless...." and, "He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God's work from beginning to end……. And I know that whatever God does is final. Nothing can be added to it or taken from it. God's purpose is that people should fear him. What is happening now has happened before, and what will happen in the future has happened before, because God makes the same things happen over and over again."
One of my greatest memories of Michael Jackson was when I was a little girl watching him sing with his brothers. I still remember the first time I head him sing, “Ben” the song about a dog. It made me cry then, as it still does right now.

Ben, the two of us need look no more
We both found what we were looking for
With a friend to call my own I'll never be alone
And you, my friend, will see
You've got a friend in me (you've got a friend in me)
Ben, you're always running here and there
You feel you're not wanted anywhere
If you ever look behind And don't like what you find
There's one thing you should know
You've got a place to go (you've got a place to go)
I used to say "I" and "me" Now it's "us", now it's "we"
I used to say "I" and "me" Now it's "us", now it's "we"
Ben, most people would turn you away I don't listen to a word they say
They don't see you as I do I wish they would try to
I'm sure they'd think again
If they had a friend like Ben (a friend) Like Ben
These lyrics are such a testimony to how that little boy would sadly feel all his life. That nobody was there who cared and loved him. So much that one of his best friends was a chimp named "Bubbles." I wish that he would not have listened to a word that Hollywood would say to him nor how they would see him. Who could ever live up to that? I wish that the gospel would have been prevalent around him and that he could have seen God’s purpose for his life…..that he might have feared the Lord. I can only pray that others in this business will start to wonder, “Surely, there’s GOT to be more to life than THIS…..”

“And if our hope in Christ is only for this life, we are more to be pitied than anyone in the world.” 1 Cor. 15:19
