As a pastor's wife, I see women who feel less than just about everything and everyone, and honestly, I have frequented this place myself. We just never feel we measure up or that our problems don't compare and therefore they just don't matter to God. Several friends are currently struggling with this around me today. I mean several! It's actually been a resounding prayer request I've heard and seen this week. So much that as I was praying this morning for each of these various needs- personal, financial, workplace, church situations.... I was in awe of how God took all these separate needs and showed me how He fills them ALL with one thing in common- His all-sufficiency. He's not just big enough, He's also interested in the details so much that He's working out the solution to every single situation.
Ladies, He is not holding back on any of us. We are insecure, and He's our Rock. We are incapable, yet He's all-powerful. We feel inadequate, but He provides for every single need! He's not just willing to meet our needs. He's willing to be MORE than enough. This song written by Chris Tomlin and Louie Giglio popped into my head as I was praying for all of the needs, mine included....
All of You is more than enough for all of me
For every thirst and every need
You satisfy me with Your love
And all I have in You is more than enough
You are my supply
My breath of life
And still more awesome than I know
You are my reward worth living for
And still more awesome than I know
All of You is more than enough for all of me
For every thirst and every need
You satisfy me with Your love
And all I have in You is more than enough
You’re my sacrifice
Of greatest price
And still more awesome than I know
You’re the coming King
You are everything
And still more awesome than I know
More than all I want
More than all I need
You are more than enough for me
More than all I know
More than all I can say
You are more than enough for me
So, whatever it is you are struggling with and there doesn't seem to be "enough"....security, self-esteem, rejection, your marriage, family, friends, finances, school, job, church, ministry, .... know today that God is truly enough for what you need, and then He's more. It is not selfish at all to ask your Father when you are in need. He desires us to bring it ALL before Him. We don't have to bargain with God. "Lord, if You will only do this for me, then I will _____." He's not into bartering...He's a giving, gracious, loving God. He's into a personal relationship with you, sweet one. The sweet blessing in return though is that He is more than enough for all of us-whatever we lack. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are very much alive and active in our lives and our needs today. That's enough to make me okay with texting less than 3.
"Don't bargain with God. Be direct. Ask for what you need. This isn't a cat-and-mouse, hide-and-seek game we're in. If your child asks for bread, do you trick him with sawdust? If he asks for fish, do you scare him with a live snake on his plate? As bad as you are, you wouldn't think of such a thing. You're at least decent to your own children. So don't you think the God who conceived you in love will be even better? " Matthew 7:7-11

ReplyDeleteYour post is fantastic! I don't know how we are connected.....maybe from Louisville days. We lived there 98-00 while my hubby was in seminary. We attended Highview Bapt. and we have 3 kids, Gavin, Allyanne, & Gates!
I added you on FB this morning...and hopped over to your blog.
I was chatting this very morning with another PW on Facebook about that very topic.
It's so easy to feel less than....in many ways. Our family has struggled and dealt with "things" that can wear the follower down. But loving and serving a God like ours.....is a privilege.
I hope to run into you again on here.
Wanda, my husband Sean and I were at Highview until 2002. He taught a couples class and was a deacon there before going into the ministry full time. I think we might have been in the same ABF class at one time, and maybe a ladies Bible study, too? Good to "see" you here! :)
