Days 17-19~DELIVERANCE

I'm still taking time each day to look into the CHRISTmas story, but I'm finding little time to write down the things the Lord is showing me. So, let me share a summary of the past three days.

On Monday (Day 17), I ventured out for the first time by myself to run several errands. My in-laws were due to arrive that night, so I wanted to get my list for the day accomplished, so I could come home and try to unpack a few more boxes. My plans didn't go as expected. I ended up spending more time in the car than I did in any of my stops. Despite the GPS, I found that I still managed to get lost ...a few times. Another reminder of the Lord to me to SLOW DOWN, and be patient for His timing. Normally, when I am feeling rushed, it's because I'm not trusting that what needs to get done that day will get done and tomorrow will worry about itself. A lesson to return to humility.

Day 18-Our days are filled lately with unpacking. What I thought would be the "easier" part of the move has become a little more tedious. Yesterday, we just decided to dive in and tackle the mess. There's been little progress trying to take small bites, so we went full force. I must admit, I had a little meltdown in the middle of the mess. I think the emotions of leaving friends, the newness of everything around me, and the feeling of chaos and boxes really just made me feel overwhelmed. Add to this the fact that I have not been able to sleep well, and it just caught up with me. Thankfully, I have a very gracious husband that always seems to be able to bring me back to a place of peace. I'm so thankful when Sean sees this in me and "takes charge" with a plan. It brings me so much comfort to have a husband who leads even in the small things. God continues to teach me to rest in His plan- daily. It really does take an intentional effort when you are in the midst of chaos to trust in the Sovereign Prince of Peace. Jesus coming to earth brought peace to those who knew Him, and chaos to the rest of the world. The same is for us today. Without Jesus, there is chaos. With Him, there is peace. As this day went on, I felt Him reminding me of this truth. I slept this night the best I have slept since we left Virginia. God is so sweet.

Day 19- In light of the past two days where I have felt uncertain and "out of sorts," today I was mindful of just how much I needed a Deliverer. Without Jesus, I am a complete mess. I can't even imagine the despair I would feel if I didn't have Him. God's timing and trust have been on my heart as I think about the Christmas story. How Jesus arrived at just the right time, in the right place, and in the right way-even though to the world it seemed so wrong. So unexpected. Yet so needed. When I think of my sin and how easy it is for me to wander into my own thinking, my own timing, and my own way (as demonstrated the past couple of days- despite hearing from the Lord each morning!), I can't help but thank God for sending Jesus to earth to deliver me from my sin and self. Oh, how I need Him! I wrote this entry a couple of years ago on a quiet morning at home, but I returned to it today. I was thinking about timing and how "the days were accomplished that she should be delivered." I remembered this article, and think it's a great refresher for me- and maybe you, too.
